Loc Progress

Well well well...

I hope all is well with you all! Things have been pretty good on my end. I just wanted to update you...I have been loc'd for 4 1/2 years now and the top half of my locs are RED now and they're having another growth spurt. :) Here are some recent photos. Thanks for continuing to follow me and be blessed!

Loc Update

Hello everyone!

Here is a loc update for you. I have not done one since last fall. The only thing that has changed with my locs is the length. The color is still the same.

Feel free to ask me anything about my locs and enjoy your weekend!

New Style

Hello everyone!

As you all have seen in previous photos, one of my favorite loc styles is CURLS. I have always achieved this style by putting my hair into bantu knots and then wearing a bantu knot-out.

As my locs have gotten longer I've been wanting more of a "spiral" look. I have read several posts on blogger and nappturality stating that the best way to achieve this look is to use pipe cleaners.

I had been planning on picking some up, but had pushed it to the bottom of my list of things to do. Well, a couple of weeks ago I was strolling through Family Dollar and spotted some for 1.00 so I had to go ahead and buy some.

You can use whatever products you normally use to style your locs. Also, be sure your locs are wet before you curl them and let them fully dry before you take the pipe cleaners out.

Here is a tutorial:

Mine are various colors so it may be easier to see...
Here's how I wrapped mine:

Here is the result:

The curls are kind of tight, I personally like my hair better as the curls fall; and that's exactly what happened as the days went on...

Happy curling! :)

Progression

This is a long overdue update...and I'll try to make it short (I have the tendency to be wordy, lol). So, I thought my hair growth slowed down quite a bit...um, apparently I was wrong. I had not retwisted my hair in a while so I decided to go ahead and retwist it while I had the time to do so. I must say I was shocked at the growth. *Happy Dance* Here are a few pics...enjoy and feel free to ask any questions you may have regarding my locs, products I use, or my poetry. Thanks for reading!

The Road to Locdom

I have embarked on yet another journey... locdom. I must say this is one of the best decisions I've made in my life. It is not an easy journey and it has taught me so much about myself... including how much more patient I need to be. I have maintained my hair myself from the initial twists until now, with the exception of one visit to a loctician a couple of weeks ago to make sure I was doing everything right. I have no idea if and when I will go back because that's 70 dollarsUS I can keep in my pocket and retwist myself. I wash my hair every week and let it dry in the sun if the weather's nice. If not, I towel dry it. I wash with Jamaican Mango Lime Shampoo and condition with the protein conditioner from the same line. That is pretty much it besides oiling my scalp (burgamot grease) from time to time. I know you shouldn't use any products with oil, but my scalp needs oil! When I retwist I use Jamaican Mango Lime Creme Wax. The shampoo clarifies well so I haven't had a problem with product build-up. Oh, and I spritz my scalp with water in the morning if it's itchy. I have a pretty simple routine I think. I will share some photos of my progress (none from the loctician visit) so far and keep you all posted as I emerge!

Twists: So I did these twists for my 1 year nappyversary and decided to loc with them:

Month 2: Starting to see a LOT of fuzziness...so I'm moving right along:

That's my progress up til today!
